York Regional Police Mural (AFD)
This artwork is way back in my Arts Fundamental program for Jim Graves Illustration 2 class. My group Gordan Chan, Genuman Ho, Micheal Alvis and me came up with this concept for the York Regional police mural. There are many groups with great designs and I am honored that they liked our design. It was a great experience as we have to meet a deadline even though the semester was finished and how the client wants some changes to the mascot where we have to make changes before we could start on the mural. It was not easy to paint a large mural where the painting is taller than me but at least we got some money as a reward. And yes, we knew the perspective was way off but we want to showcase everyone and vehicles as possible since the police requested it during their first meeting with all the groups that were involved is this project.
JEKYLL TO HYDE
(The scientist going through a transformation from a human to a humanoid dinosaur in attempt to make super soldier serum by using DNA samples from various dinosaur fossils)
This is an assignment is in my 2nd semester in Animation where we show the transformation of our character to some organic monster. This assignment was near the end of the semester and was work in progress when the yearbook deadline was due, so I would like to post this up on what my Jekyy To Hyde looked like. I liked the overall of the transformation and the posing in the limited amount of poses we have for this assignment. What I might want is to add more blood spew as the the spikes penetrate the back of his body.
Archictectural Layout
For my choice of design, I chose Ancient Japan because most of the people I came across wanted to do Ancient Greek or Mayan. I am familiar with some of the architecture in Greek and Mayan and so I wanted to try something different. I also want to learn more about their architecture since it is similar to China. It was quite hard to find things that belong to Japan so I decided to use the background and foreground objects to let the viewer know where the setting is.
I had the design in my head for while when I first received the assignment and I am quite pleased on how it turned out as a whole peace. I especially enjoyed incorporating textures into the design like the wood lamp, water , and the stony textures for the bridge. I also liked the roof of the building showing the depth of the painting. If there where more time, I would like to show more buildings in the background instead of the forest of bamboo trees. What I might change in this is see what it would look like during the day time because originally , I had a moon behind the building and that would mean no lighting in the front of the building even though it is at night . I also would like to improve on the cherry blossom tree since I was not good at drawing details to trees.

Yearbook
This is my yearbook page of some of my work in 1st year Animation that includes life drawing, character design, layout, and digital painting.
Fish
This is just some paintings of different variety of koi fish and a clown trigger fish on canvas of 24 by 18 inches. The medium I used over the summer break was acrylic paint . Its actually a gift for my aunt who moved in to her house. Seeing how I haven't used paint for the longest time, it was challenging to give it the 3D quality I would like.
Caricature of Partner and Me
Here is a caricature of me and my partner David Cesario in ten head/shoulder with expressions and ten full body poses with expressions.
Squirrel
This is just some paintings of different variety of koi fish and a clown trigger fish on canvas of 24 by 18 inches I think in acrylics paint over the summer break. It is actually a gift for my aunt who moved in to her house. Seeing how I haven't used paint for the longest time, it was challenging to give it the 3D quality I would like.
Machete
This is an on going process of my character design 3D model machete. I have to come up with two characters that can interact with each other. I designed two Chinese warriors from ancient china and decided to go model the commanding officer who is the most difficult to do cause of the details, but I like the challenge and am having fun making it so far.
Car
In this assignment, we are to come up with a design of a vehicle of some sort with a metal surface to paint on. I've looked up on one of the artist Scott Robertson who is crazy in car designs and rendering during the book fair in Seneca and decided to do a car. I liked the overall design although I would hope to design it with a more futuristic look to it next time. I also reference many head lights and wheel designs to give it more of a realistic look to it. One thing I might change is give it a proper background, maybe a night background of a dessert road or city.
Monster Design
For this assignment, we have to come up with an organic creature design. What I have here is a plant monster with four tentacle like snake heads with sharp teeth and six wavy arms that draws preys with its scent. Things I like to improve on are the background because it was rushed a bit and the lighting could be better in focusing on just one spot instead of everywhere. I like the design overall and maybe could play around with the different types of leaves to maybe make it better.
Hand and Face
For this assignment, we were supposed to come up with a portrait of a person with facial expressions and a hand expression. The expressions of the head or hands should make sense to one another and can be handed in separately or in the one same drawing. So what I have here is my friend Vincent, and one of a drawing of a hand expression that best fit the expression on his face.
For this assignment, I wanted to have some fun with it and decided to have the hand and face together. Somewhere along the way, I have this idea magic coming into play. I have him with a smirk expression where he is emitting or generating a fireball at the palm of his hand. During the process, I didn't think of how to make a fire effect without finding it on Google and pasting it to my work. I ended up looking up on some tutorials on creating some fire effects and there were some good ones and some lame ones. In the end, I came up with this tutorial where you play around with the "difference cloud effect" on the filter window and the color of the gradient map, and with the eraser tool to shape the fire that I desired. If I had more time, I would explore more tutorial and see if I can find a better fire effect that would look good.
I liked the overall rendering of the painting like the hair which I think went well. But the one thing I would improve on is to dim down the lighting and add more orange and yellow because there is a bit too much bright spots on the skin as highlight whereas the fire is in warm orange and yellow colors. Another minor fixes to the painting is enlarge the hands a bit since it is at the front.
